Free Outdoor Gyms Sheffield: Best Park Circuits
Discover free outdoor fitness circuits at Sheffield parks including Endcliffe and Graves. Pull-up bars, resistance stations and cardio routes available now.
How we reported this
Sheffield parks added new pull-up bars and resistance stations this spring at three locations, giving residents direct access to strength and cardio circuits without any entry fees.
The push comes as indoor gym memberships in the city average £45 a month, prompting more people to use outdoor spots during the longer daylight hours of July. Council records show park-based fitness sessions rose steadily through the first half of 2026 as residents sought low-cost options close to home.
Endcliffe Park and Graves Park circuits
Endcliffe Park on Rustlings Road holds a 1.2-kilometre loop with eight stations that include parallel bars, step platforms and a tyre flip area, all installed in 2024. Runners can combine the circuit with the adjacent Porter Brook trail for intervals. Graves Park on Chesterfield Road features a separate 800-metre course with chest-press and leg-raise units plus a marked 5-kilometre perimeter path used by local running groups on weekday evenings.
Sheffield City Council data released in May 2026 recorded 18,400 visits to the outdoor stations across both parks in the previous 12 months, up from 13,100 the year before. The same report noted that 62 percent of users were aged 25 to 44 and that the sites require no booking.
Weston Park on Western Bank added four new stations last autumn, including a rowing machine replica and balance beams, bringing the city total to 14 free sites. Neighbourhood groups in Crookes and Nether Edge now run informal Saturday morning sessions at these locations, sharing routes via the council’s Parks and Countryside newsletter.
Visitors should bring water, wear supportive shoes and check the Sheffield City Council website for any temporary closures before setting out. Maps of each circuit are posted at the main entrances and available to download in PDF form for offline use.
